MetLife FEGLI Settlement Receives Final Approval

On October 17, 2012, U.S. District Court Judge Sandra S. Beckwith granted final approval to an $11.5 million settlement Goldenberg Schneider successfully negotiated with MetLife.  In the lawsuit, Plaintiffs alleged that MetLife failed to pay sufficient delayed settlement interest on life insurance proceeds as required by the terms of the largest group life insurance policy in the world, the Federal Employees Group Life Insurance (FEGLI) program.  Goldenberg Schneider, who served as Co-Lead Class Counsel, successfully certified a nationwide class of FEGLI beneficiaries in January, 2011, leading to the $11.5 million settlement.  Go to for more information.
